Meditation is a way to explore your inner landscape. The demands
of work and life maintenance often keep us so occupied we forget
the value of taking time out to examine how the workings of our minds
affect the direction our life is taking. When that happens, we may
notice we are drifting away from what brings us fulfillment in our
lives and we can end up with a feeling of emptiness that no outer
activity can ever fill.
It is now widely known that meditation can reduce stress, increase mental focus
and produce a general increase in our well-being, however, in the early stages
of a meditation practice, it is natural to experience challenges, just as we
experience challenges when learning any new skill. It always makes me chuckle
when people tell me they are too stressed to meditate. The point of meditation
is not that you are already relaxed and will find it easy. The point is you will
struggle at first and as you practice over time you will reap the rewards for
the rest of your life.
